The ARCS Atlanta Chapter General Membership Meeting was held at the Downtown Capital City Club on January 17, 2024. Former ARCS Atlanta Scholar (2013) Dr. Eric DeJesus spoke to ARCS Atlanta members about his research following the receipt of his PhD from UGA. Dr. DeJesus is the founder of Annate Bitherapeutics, a biotech company working to selectively treat a wide range of tumor types through immunotherapies. Dr. DeJesus spoke about how the revelations of African Trypanosomes are changing the cancer landscape.
Another highlight of the January General Membership Meeting was the announcement of the 2024 ARCS Light Award recipient. The ARCS Light Award was given this year to our Past President, Leslie Petter, for her extraordinary contributions to our chapter. Upon receiving the Award, Leslie embraced the contributions of the entire chapter saying, "We are a reflection of the people we spend our time with, so this ARCS Light Award is for all of us."
